List of Intel chipsets - Wikipedia [3] The 975X chipset technical specification shows only DDR2-533/667 memory support. Actual implementations of 975X do support DDR2 800. Innodisk makes ddr3-adapter for M.2 SSDs Yeah, you read that right, a DDR3 Memory adapter for M.2. SSDs ?! Innodisk is a manufacturer for memory and storage products as many of you know. Now if you'd use NAND flas as system memory then a

DDR3 memory modules look similar to DDR and DDR2 chips, but the gap that separates the two sets of pins on the bottom of each module is in a different location. This prevents the RAM chip from being installed in a slot that does not support DDR3 RAM.

Посмотрите и описание, которое я нашел (сокет 775) - DDR : 1.2 DDR DIMM memory slots (supports up to 2GB memory) 2.Supports 2.5V DDR DIMM 3.Supports dual channel DDR 400/333 DIMMЕсть переходные материнки - с DDR и DDR2, или с DDR2 и DDR3. I already started the PC with this config and that was when I've seen the voltage difference. My DDR3L is a dual voltage RAM so it will support 1.35V or 1.5V. From my investigation mixing DDR3 with DDR3L should not cause any problem. Are the slots different for DDR2 & DDR3? - Tech Support… The only difference that I can see is the old MOBO is ddr2 and the new one is ddr3.They are not compatible. The "key" in the slot is different and the memory type is specific to the motherboard.

Basically No but...there are few motherboards which do support both DDR2 & DDR3. These days these mobos are cheap and can be bought online. If you are talking about any of these mobos then you would surely be able to use a DDR3 RAM Module onto you mobo, but if your mobo does not support it then you are stuck with DDR2.

Answers. No it wouldn't support DDR2. The chipset itself is designed for DDR3. Will DDR3 RAM work on DDR2 motherboard? - Quora Joke aside, no it won’t. DDR2 and DDR3 modules and slots are physically different, there is no way to insert one module in other one’s slot. Unless you use a hammer, then you end up with a broken MB and RAM’s. But there are hybrid motherboards with both slots, so you can choose which RAM you have at hand.

Answer The key difference between DDR and DDR2 is that in DDR2 the bus is clocked at twice the speed of the memory cells, so four words of data can.

If it is DDR2 or DDR3 with 4 DIMM slots, then it will be a dual channel configuration, in which there will be no performance difference between having two slots filled vs all four filled, if only two are filled, it is the matter of if the motherboard supports the RAM sticks and the correct slots to fit them into.
